The car company Nio plans to release the Nio ES6 electric car with a new type of battery this summer. An electric vehicle can provide a range 1.5 times greater than that of traditional batteries. TechInsider reports this.
In the future, solid-state batteries will replace the current generation of lithium-ion batteries with liquid electrolyte.
Their difference lies in their high energy density, which will increase the power reserve and save charging time. Namely, the Nio nickel battery provides a charge density 44.44% higher than the current generation of batteries, while it weighs only 3-4% more, and fits into the same dimensions. The battery cells are supplied by the Chinese company WeLion.
According to the manufacturer, a module with a capacity of 150 kWh provides a range of 1000 km, although in practice we can expect a more modest figure, within 900+ km, versus 600+ km for current batteries.
